Thinking Out Loud

I'm linking up with Running with Spoons for today's blog post.

I have nails again! I stopped biting 2 weeks ago and have managed to keep them from breaking or looking like a tasty snack. I'm looking into getting a gel nail kit to do myself at home. I'm hoping the hardness of gel nails will help with the breaking and therefore, cause a relapse in biting. Any recommendations on a kit?

I signed Lachlan back up for MyGym classes. We had a long enough break and he's actually going on more of the activities and doing things right, where before he'd walk around aimlessly and maybe touch one thing here for 2 seconds before moving onto the next. He's the oldest in his class now so it's nice to see him as the more advanced one for a change! I think he can tell.

I'm knitting my first sweater! It's for Lachlan so it's small and in a thick yarn so I thought it was a perfect pattern for newbie sweater knitting. The body is almost done and so far it's been so easy! I can't help thinking, what took me so long to jump in? But it's a fun knit and I reeeeeally hope I got my gauging right and it will actually fit after all this!

The other day I saw a giant hawk (at least I think it was a hawk) fly up to and land on a tree really close to our house. He was so big that at first he looked like a Muppet or a small child in a costume! I couldn't stop looking at him, he was so beautiful.

We took Lachlan to a nearby lake with a beach last weekend. He enjoyed walking in the water with his Crocs on and collecting rocks to put in a bucket. We got there early enough to get a prime location with shade, and it wasn't uncomfortably crowded because I guess the majority of kids are back in school and summer is considered over.
Also, I have to mention that Houston TX and all those affected by Hurricane Harvey are in my thoughts! I can't even begin to imagine the devastation and heartbreak that everyone must be going through.

Thinking Out Loud

I'm linking up with Running with Spoons for this week's Thinking Out Loud

Every now and then I'll try to find this one old friend from high school on Facebook but she doesn't have an account. But I'm disturbed by the next thought that pops in my head, that maybe she died because who doesn't have a Facebook account?

As happy as I am that school here is starting up in a week (yes, it's absurdly early here) because that means less crowds at the pools and stores, it just means I'm that much closer to Lachlan going to school too :(

I just went through the people I'm following on Instagram and removed some 200 accounts that I either don't care about, were entries to giveaways, or inactive. My feed feels so cleaned up!

My mom is coming out in a few weeks, which I am so excited about because now we can go to Yarn Along the Rockies together! EEEE! So freakin excited!

I watched Gypsy on Netflix, and though I found it to be binge-worthy, I feel like nothing really happened.

I just started watching Glow but I just don't know.....

Thinking Out Loud

I don't remember who's blog I saw it on first, but it seems like fun. Thinking Out Loud is a weekly linkup to write about whatever it is that pops into your head, letting the stream of consciousness flow. Visit Running with Spoons to link up your own post on Thursdays!

  • I'm really excited for the rain storms that are supposed to happen over the next week.

  • I really miss having a mailbox. We have to walk down the street with a key to a little mailbox locker and it makes mailing anything larger than a card a pain in the butt.

  • I've been on the hunt for a new project bag for my knitting. I have found a bunch of really awesome shops, just waiting for them to update their shops.

  • I'm already planning on going to the giant, twice-yearly kids consignment sale in September. I'm still not ready to sell Lachlan's things though. I wonder if I ever will be...

  • You know those signs that say "Please excuse the mess, but my children are making memories." Well, that quote comes off as smug as hell to me and I actually can't stand the mess anyway so I'll find time to clean my house, thank you.

  • I'm starting to regret using those tiny pebbles I laid along our patio's border. Between Lachlan digging in them and Mabel kicking them up, it looks a hot mess already.

  • My mom wants to learn how to knit! I sent her a few of my favorite YouTube tutorials.

  • I'm still reading IT, but it's really good so I think I'm going through it faster than I usually do with other books.

  • Speaking of IT, it looks like the movie will be broken up into two movies, one for the kids, one as them as adults. I'm really happy about that because there is SO many creepy cool scenes in the book. I hope they incorporate new scenes that weren't in the old movie but were in the book.

  • I'm really tired. It's hard having a littler person who doesn't understand you, or whom you don't understand either. By the end of the day I'm completely spent and don't have anything left to give.

  • But then I'll sneak into his room while he's sleeping to look at him and my heart bursts with love and it makes it alright.
