11 months

Here we are, 11 months into this parenting thing and I really love this kid of ours. I realized that Halloween is going to be the last of Lachlan's first holidays. At the moment, he's going to be Jack Skellington. I say 'at the moment' because I can't make up my mind.

This month, Lachlan:
  1. Weighs 23.5 lbs
  2. Is beginning to cruise along furniture edges
  3. Laughs at his reflection in the mirror or on the front facing camera
  4. Laughs when he sees other little kids
  5. Will hold his bottle to feed himself while reclined in the stroller or high chair
  6. Will hand you things
  7. Climbs the stairs pretty fast
  8. Likes looking at strangers. He used to cry when he saw a stranger before.
  9. Grinds his teeth (which gives me the chills!)
  10. Did much better with his babysitter this month

Lessons learned this month:
  1. Beware playgrounds with wood chips. Even if you SWEAR you watched them the entire time to make sure they didn't put a piece of wood in their mouth, you will find a piece of wood in their mouth when you get home from the park and then you're blood will run cold because, hello, choking!? And in the backseat while driving?! But they didn't choke, just sucked on it.
  2. Arranging a babysitter to come over during a nap time will make it so much easier for you to leave on time and enjoy your date.
  3. Those really awesome jogging strollers with the big wheels are prone to getting flats so buy spare tubes!
  4. Nothing happened to warrant this lesson, it's just worth mentioning: Trust your instincts. Whether it's about why your kid is crying, if you think they may be sick or if it's teething, why they aren't eating, why they aren't acting like themselves.

  4. Thank you! That's part of the reason I chose an airplane theme for his birthday because "time flies" :p

  5. He's just such a cutie!! I can't believe it's been 11 months already, wow.

Also, your woodchip advice is LEGIT. Seriously, they always manage to sneak a piece into the mouth!!

  6. thanks!
yea it makes me not wanna even go to the park because of that. he almost instantly puts a piece to his mouth so it's more stressful than fun at this point.
