My new motto: "Whatever it takes!"

Let's see, I'm about 16 months into this thing called parenthood and it didn't take me this long to actually REALIZE this...it only took me this long to come up with my new clever motto: "Whatever it takes!" I think I'll get a tattoo of it somewhere.

Your kid prefers to eat his food out of a bowl placed on the floor for him to take a piece as he chooses?
Whatever it takes!

Your kid will only eat while walking laps around the kitchen and not sit comfortably in his high chair?
Whatever it takes!

Your kid doesn't like to lie down on his changing pad after a bath so instead you just sit him on the floor and do the same exact motions with diapering and putting on clothes?
Whatever it takes!

Your kid doesn't want the brand new brightly colored kick ball you just bought him, he only wants to carry a stick in one hand and a solar light in the other while in the backyard?
Whatever it takes!

Your kid doesn't give a crap about all the bubbles you're blowing and only wants to look at the rocks?
Whatever it takes!

Your kid doesn't want to play on the super fun trampoline or push the giant ball/tunnel thing at MyGym but would rather play with and inspect the tiny eye-level door instead?
Whatever it takes!

Your kid hates when his play is interrupted due to a poopy diaper change but wants to stick his hands in the poop so you give him your cellphone to keep his hands occupied and free of said poop?
Whatever it takes!

Your kid can't sit still at story time so you follow behind him/chase after him to make sure he doesn't get into too much trouble at the library?
Whatever it takes!

You want to eat fine cheeses and drink wine that comes from far away lands at a local winery with your other new parent friends, but your kid won't sit in his stroller or high chair for more than 3 minutes so your husband carries him like a football, swings him around, and lets him explore the depths of the barrel room for the duration of your meal so you can chug that last glass of white?
Whatever it takes!

Hey, as long as they are safe, not screaming, not bothering anyone else, and enjoying themselves, I say do whatever it takes!

WHATEVER THE HELL IT TAKES!

  1. lol man I was saying this at week 4, how sad is that? I always phrased it as "do what works."

  2. Yea, you guys had it rough. We certainly realize how lucky we've been in those early days and months.
