Life around here lately
Hola, friends!
I apologize for not providing you with a bookmark dump. I believe this is the third Friday in a row where I failed to perform. I haven't been surfing the web as much lately so therefore I haven't come across anything worth sharing.
Anyway!
I thought I'd just sit down and blog since I feel like it's been a while, but who knows. Things have been pretty good lately.
Work
Work is going well. I'm working 3 days a week (Mon, Wed, and Fri) and it's perfect for me. Even though it's far, I enjoy working with the other tech Mondays and Wednesdays, and Fridays I'm on my own. She's willing to let me come in on whatever day is good for me as long as I cover her on Fridays. So I appreciate the flexibility, especially with the snow that's coming soon because I won't be making the drive in on those days. The office I work at recently just added two more doctors to the four that are already there so it's going to get nuts soon with just one xray room. But the exams are easy. Mainly spines, hips, and shoulders.
Colorado
We've been trying to get out every weekend to explore. Last weekend we were trying to get up to see the leaves in Breckenridge but the two highways we took were totally backed up (the first one we though oh let's just flip a B and take the other way. Nope. Backed up too). So we turned around and went home dejected and are going to try again next weekend. I think this weekend we're going to Horseshoe Market with a couple that lives near us (the husband works with Brian) and their cute kiddo. Should be fun.
Insomnia
Oh my god insomnia sucks balls. It started 3 weeks ago, but got worse 2 weeks ago so I finally caved and took some sleeping meds. I found that Benadryl works pretty well for me. I didn't feel hung over the next day like I did on another type. That was almost even worse. I still woke up twice on Bendaryl, but I fell back to sleep which was the important thing.
Reading
I finished reading Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore and all I can say is, ehh. I wish I like it more. It started out really good but then once they involved Google, I started to lose interest. Now I'm reading The Interestings and I'm having a hard time getting started. I read before bed, but lately with the insomnia I have no desire to read so I only get through 2 pages before falling asleep. And for me, it's always hard to start a brand new book and not read at least an entire chapter in one sitting so the characters and plot sink in. If I keep breaking it up on different nights, I forget little details.
Watching
I'm so excited that they finally put season 4 episodes from The Walking dead on Netflix. I've been binge watching on my days off while I crochet. We also started watching Masters of Sex. And while I'm far from a prude, I find some scenes uncomfortable to watch. In general, I tend to put myself in the shoes of the character's I'm watching and I imagine what if that was me? So watching women masterbate in front of a doctor creeps me out big time. But the show is great otherwise.
Making
I've been on a crochet binge as I build stock to add to my Etsy shop. It's been years since it was last open so I want to have a decent amount of items available first. I'm thinking of opening sometime this month. So I've been having way too much fun making scarves, mits and baby hats.
Sorta sick of
I'm sorta sick of seeing an influx of blog posts on how to blog lately. I know it's all just a never ending cycle of new bloggers coming on the scene that these posts are directed at, but I'm just kind of over it. I don't need someone telling me how to run my shit. And all the tips are always the same! I don't care how to bring traffic to my blog. I don't care about SEO. I don't care about google analytics and blog stats anymore. I like to blog because I like to blog and I like to share about things that interest me. As you already know, I love sharing the things I make and things going on in my life. And if someone else likes my blog for that, then awesome!
Looking forward to
Of course, fall is every bloggers favorite month, but it's honestly my favorite. I can't wait to start making more crockpot meals, chilis, and soups. I also love watching Halloween movies so I bought a bunch of my favorites on eBay to watch. Overall, I'm feeling pretty good and hopeful for what's to come.

Pretty selfie! I totally agree on the 'how to blog' posts Just google 'how to blog' and you'll get 87 of the same post. You can tell it's just some blogger trying to bring traffic to their own site but it's b o r i n g. I like these types of posts much better.

ReplyDeleteYESSSSSS! I was just thinking this the other day when I was on Pinterest and I saw so many pins about how to "Blog", I'm kinda over it too. But you're right, they're not for us, I think we've gotten over the whole "how do I get new readers" hump and have found our groove. I'm sure it will eventually be the same for newer bloggers.
I'm so glad to see you guys are adjusting well in CO!
Yeah I started The Interestings and quit it almost immediately. It was not as ... the interesting ... as I was hoping. You should try this one, I'm halfway into it and it's good. It's kind of a teen novel I guess but really neat. http://www.theageofmiraclesbook.com/
ReplyDeleteHaha love your "how to blog comment!" Can't wait to see your new Etsy shop goodies. BTW I just read Eleanor & Park and loved it. It's an easy read about love in the 1980s...total heart warmer. Cheers!
