Our trip to Washington DC: The Zoo

Today's post is the final post summing up our trip to DC 2 weeks ago. (To read about the monuments click here, to read about the museums click here).

I always feel bad about zoo animals being kept locked up for our own viewing pleasure, but the Smithsonian Zoo keeps some endangered species safe and protected. And it's always cool to learn about the animals.

But the zoo was huge and they had so many species of animals to see. They didn't have giraffes though. Admission was free but they charge you to park so technically, it was still $22 to get in. We went early and the park was so nice and empty. We got to see the pandas right up close as they were outside eating breakfast. Once it reached noon it started getting packed so we headed home soon after.

DC was lots of fun!

  1. Zoos make me sad too, but I do feel a bit better about them when they are preserves! Great photos by the way, I think the flamingos are my favorite!
