I don't have a Bookmark Dump to share today so I thought I'd share about what's been going on around here lately.
Our realtor put up a website to promote our house for sale with pics AND music! We are having our open house this Sunday and our realtor said there are already 3 people who are interested in the house! The market is in our favor in that there aren't really too many houses on the market around here. Plus we are in a great school district so we're hoping to get an offer on Sunday.
I am trying to learn how to knit. It's so hard holding 2 needles! I'm a righty so holding anything in my left hand just throws me off. I can't even use chopsticks so this is going to be hard.
It's looking like we are going to be moving forward with IVF. We go in for our consult on Monday but are doing one last medicated IUI this cycle in the meantime. So that's basically all I ever think about. I'm feeling more optimistic about it since the success rate is much higher. And the positive emotions are a relief because for a while I was really angry and refusing to even consider it. But like most things I start out hating, it grew on me and I have accepted it. I'm still scared to death of the egg retrieval and general anesthesia though. But what I do feel good about is it's an outpatient procedure and it's all done in the clinic, not an operating room like the horrible painful hysteropscopy I had in the beginning. Besides, it looks like there's 3 couples we know who've had to do IVF and I had no idea until this week. It's so much more common than you'd think.
The rain has been seriously insane lately! The city was flooded up to 4 feet in places and trees went down causing detours all over but at least is was warm out!
Here's what I made in April:
We are planning our first house hunting trip in Colorado this month. I can't see this being an easy process since the houses we like online get sold in a matter of days and being over 2,000 miles away its impossible to use timeliness in our favor to snag one we want. I'm not really sure how we're going to go about this other than random luck.

So many things going on! I wish you guys luck with the IUI and the IVF and the house and all of it. :)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you are a crafter, sounds like you need the stress relief! Good luck with the open house this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm a crocheter who's been dreaming about learning to knit for a while now too... had tried to teach myself a bit and it didn't really work for me, I just felt too awkward. The desire to learn didn't stop though so I'm enrolled in knitting classes to start next week. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress!
You should really try Continental style knitting! You'll hold your yarn the same way as in crochet and use your right hand to maneuver the needle and "grab" the yarn in the stitches. It felt so weird to be "hooking" yarn through stitches without an actual hook, but you'll get used to it! Working knit stitches will become easier and easier and actually quite therapeutic. Purling is a whole other story, though. Almost 8 years of knitting and I still wince when a project has a lot of purling.
ReplyDeleteYou have so much going on! Good luck with everything. I hope the yarny crafts help you relieve some stress!
Good luck with the knitting. I hope you fall in love with it. I like to be able to switch between crochet hook and knitting needles :)
ReplyDeleteI personally think the American style (where you wrap the yarn around your needle with your right hand) will be easier for beginners.... it's easier to get the right tension and uniform stitches. But you should try out what you like more.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the house selling hope you get a good offer and also on the house hunting in Colorado!
ReplyDeleteI went thru Artificial Insemination a couple of times and In vitro (I had 19 eggs retrieved) a few years back...I know the stress but take it easy and be positive...
I know a little bit of knitting but it does takes longer to finish a project that crocheting, I don't read knit patterns :( all I know is knit purl knit purl.
Hugs to you!
Good luck with knitting! I'm the opposite--I can knit all kinds of fancy things but crochet still feels unnatural to me. (I've completed several crochet projects and my stitches still aren't totally uniform, but I'm sure I'll get there eventually.)
ReplyDeleteI love the trivet you made in the center bottom of your picture. So awesome! Do you sell your creations?
ReplyDeletethank you! i don't currently have anything for sale but i'll do custom requests every now and then :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely suggest doing what feels more natural! I just figured it would be easier to tension the same way you're already tension-ing in crochet. I learned crochet first and it took me three tries to "get" knitting and that third one was Continental style, so I may be a liiiittle bit biased. :)
